The Pilates method was established in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates. It is a system of exercises that can be practised on a mat or on specific small or large equipment. The emphasis is on strengthening core muscles in particularly the transverse abdominus and pelvic floor muscles. These core muscles are important for providing stability for your spine, pelvis and hips, allowing you to move with much greater control and balance.
