Park Rambles
Enjoy a walk at your own pace through our local parks.
The Park Rambles group, led by our regular volunteers, meets at various walking locations in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne on Mondays, at 10 am, during school terms.
You can obtain the list of walks for a small fee (Currently $4) after enrolling at Mitcham Community House.
Your own transport is essential, as is a mobile phone for emergency purposes. Walks are generally for an hour and a half.
Most weeks, the group meets for a coffee and a chat at the end of the walk, so bring some money with you.
*All walks are weather permitting.
Walk n Talk
This is a Social group who Walk n Talk together in the local area, leaving from the Community House, during school terms. Meet at house 9:15 am on the specifies day.
Knitting for Charity (Self Directed)
Come and knit in good company for a great cause.
Fee: Gold coin donation per session
Patchwork (Self Directed)
Have you got busy patch working fingers Bring the project you are working on, scissors, cotton, pins, needles, ruler, sewing machine, and material of your own choice.
Creative Writing
We are a well-established, supportive group of self-motivated, published writers. Our ongoing objective is to produce finished work of a professional standard suitable for submission to external competitions and publications. Minimum qualification – Year 12 English or equivalent.
Calligraphy
Practise the art of beautiful handwriting and create a frame-worthy script. Must have done Calligraphy before.
Wiser Driver
Whitehorse City Council is running its popular four-week Wiser Driver course from this month to help older drivers stay safe on Whitehorse roads for as long as possible at Mitcham community house.
The free course is offered to drivers 50 years and older. Participants are required to attend all four sessions.
Topics covered include changes to the road rules, vehicle and driver roadworthiness, handling challenging road conditions and more. It also allows you to reflect on how driving has changed over the years both the driving environment and how you have changed as a driver.
